Tamiya 1/12 Yamaha RZV500R Model Kit
The road bike that brought Grand Prix two-stroke engineering to the street.
The Tamiya 1/12 Yamaha RZV500R reproduces the machine Yamaha unveiled at the 1983 Tokyo Motor Show — a road-legal bike built around a 500cc water-cooled two-stroke V4, lifted in concept straight from the YZR500 Grand Prix racer. Good for 64 horsepower and 230km/h, it matched litre-class performance on half the displacement, and carried genuinely unusual engineering: the YPVS exhaust-timing system, crossed exhaust routing with the lower cylinders venting forward and the upper pair rearward, a three-piece air cleaner, and a lightweight anodised aluminium frame. The kit captures the engine, induction and chambers in detail, and reproduces the Monocross rear end with a real metal coil spring.
