The Whirlwind Missile Tank takes the ubiquitous Rhino chassis and strips out the transport capacity entirely, replacing it with a powerful missile array capable of raining a variety of warheads down on targets across the battlefield. Fast enough to fire and reposition before the enemy can respond, it keeps objectives clear and enemy formations suppressed while the Legion's infantry advance.
On the tabletop in Warhammer: The Horus Heresy, the Whirlwind fills a key indirect fire role in Legiones Astartes lists — delivering template hits on infantry formations from range without exposing itself to return fire. Its high mobility relative to static artillery makes it a consistent contributor throughout the game rather than a one-shot position piece. The kit carries no Legion-specific markings, making it a valid addition to any Legiones Astartes force regardless of allegiance.
